so to speak. After only one month of officially TTC, we have decided to hold off. :( Things might change by the next O day, if we feel more confident in our spending/saving, but as of right now we're putting it on hold. Of course, there still is a teensy chance that I might get pregnant this cycle, but it's highly doubtful.
We had a very unexpected monetary emergency pop up yesterday that has depleted our wimpy savings account. We're down by half and we're both seeing this as a sign that now just might not be the best time.
The good thing in all of this is that it has forced me (and him, finally!) to take a really good look at our own budgets and how we spend money. We've come up with an action plan and hopefully we'll be able to save even more than we were before! Let's hope the determination holds true.

I know it's frustrating to know that you're so close, yet so far away...
It's good that you're both taking a good hard look at your finances, and I hope your new course of action is very successful.
Like I always say..."Everything happens for a reason." :)
hey, i meant to tell you that i saw kino performing on ACL. i couldn't remember if grupo fantasma was the name of the band until i saw him.
and i'm glad you posted about an initial estimate for a baby. i had no idea! at least that gives me more excuses to put off having kids. :oP
good luck!
Kudos to you and your husband for being honest and realistic about your finances and baby-makin' schedule. Honestly, I think this is not only a sign that it's not quite the right time - but that you will be really, honestly ready when the time is right.
Congrats.
Thanks all for the kind words! I'm actually more sad than I thought I would be. I was thinking it had more to do with the money, but now I'm think it has more to do with the putting of TTC. Oh well. And Allison, I definitely think things happen for a reason!! :)
Also, I'm glad that my outline of costs helps for some people. It's definitely conservative and doesn't account for possible shower gifts. Not to mention... that's just to get the baby from the womb to house. It does not includ other costs once he/she is there full time. :/
i was about to leave a comment...but shannon said exactly what i was going to say. so ditto her.
PLUS your post with the outline of baby expenses should be mandatory reading for anyone else trying to conceive!
